MY journey
meet the doula
Hi, I’m Jordan Cota! I’m a doula, wife, and mother of 5. My journey to becoming a doula began with the birth of my first child. I was young and unprepared and my best friend stepped in and instinctually supported me through the natural labor and birth of my baby. I felt empowered after his birth, but knew that there had to be more tools to give birth well and I’d be more prepared next time. For my second baby, I chose an out-of-hospital birth center with a doula and midwife. Just 21 months after her birth, I had a beautiful home birth with my third baby. My last pregnancy was my twin boys! After a lot or research and soul searching, I chose to have them in the hospital with a certified nurse midwife and OB.
Throughout the years, I have supported many women during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I have a wide variety of pregnancy, birth, and parenting experiences. Including birth center birth, hospital birth, home birth, twins, VBAC, cesarean, water birth, breastfeeding, pumping, combination feeding, baby wearing, co-sleeping, single mothers, homeschooling, and wholistic parenting. I fully embrace the notion that our pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experiences can deeply impact who we are as people and as parents. There is no easy way to have a baby, but this incredible process teaches us how strong and capable we are and prepares us for parenting. Our birth story strongly influences our postpartum period and I love supporting women through what we like to refer to as the fourth trimester while they navigate getting to know their baby and what parenting looks like for them.
